Knock & Shock Rescheduled for Jan. 30

Hey gang, its Tuesday early evening as I write this and I am hearing from Representatives that tomorrow will be a “technical day” in the Missouri House. Basically that means attendance is not mandatory and reps simply need to “check in” to get credit for their per diem. This is most likely still tied to weather conditions. I think it might be a good idea to cancel Knock and Shock for tomorrow and re-schedule it for January 30th. This will give people time to request a day off of work again. I am truly sorry about all this, this is devastating to me personally. Before the news of the weather was starting to come in last Thursday, we were going to be over 80 folks for the 9th. Many phone calls, texts and email cancellations for Knock and Shock folks started coming in on Friday, continuing through the weekend. 80 folks for Knock and Shock for silver and gold legislation would have gotten a LOT of attention. Let’s see if we can hit that number on January 30. We should probably setup a backup date of January 31st.

I am still going to the capitol tomorrow to testify for Senator Eigel’s SB735 (12:00 in the Senate Lounge). Details are here. The Veterans, Military Affairs and Pensions committee is hearing the bill. For Senate hearings, you must testify in person, there are no witness forms. You can, however, contact members of the committee in favor of the bill. You can find all the committee members here. Everyone is welcome to come testify for SB735.

I will also have a few meetings with some Reps and Senators while there and distribute our flyers that were printed for Knock and Shock. Retha is going up with me and is going to meet with the state Auditor’s office. We will leave Jefferson City around 5 PM and head out to Swiss, Missouri. In Swiss, Retha will be presenting data on Gasconade RI and RII school districts’ financial shenanigans to folks in the towns and county folks there. Anyone is welcome to attend.

Even though this Knock and Shock event is cancelled what we can do in the meantime is VERY meaningful and timely and critical. Bills in the House are getting committee assignments now. Interestingly enough HB1955 with 17 co-sponsors isn’t moving yet. We need to continue phone call and email pressure on Representatives to co-sponsor HB1955, but at the same time, we need to ask our Representatives to personally visit with Dean Plocher and ask for HB1955 to be assigned to Doug Richie’s Special Committee on Government Accountability as it was heard in that very same committee last year. This is a favorable committee for silver and gold legislation end enjoys tremendous support there. If your Representative has already co-sponsored, please contact them again and ask them to help with the committee assignment. Ask your representative to get back with you with feedback on their request of Dean Plocher. If you do not hear back from them within 2-3 business days, contact them again. This is very important and we need to start working on this right away. This kind of information and this kind of grassroots action is precisely why it’s so important to be on this email list. Here’s the House Roster to contact your Representative.

Knock & Shock of Jan.9 Postponed

Hey gang! Well, the weather is still holding and Tuesday is gonna be ugly for parts of Missouri. The Missouri House has cancelled all hearings for the day (tomorrow) and the House session has technical status for the day, which basically means attendance is optional. Rather than risk the possibly dangerous conditions to be In Jefferson City tomorrow, we’ve changed it to Wednesday which promises better weather. I have good news to report though… while talking to Sherry in Senator Eigel’s office, I found out that Eigel’s SB735 has been assigned to committee and will have a hearing on Wednesday as well. So actually, we can testify for SB735 (Constitutional Money Act) on the same day we are working for Co-Sponsorships for HB1955 in the house. Knock and Shock is just moved forward one day, to Wednesday, January 10.

From our last email, with applicable information:

We’ll be making 2 home bases for our visit to the capitol. Senator Bill Eigel (room 227) and Representative Bill Hardwick’s (room 205) offices will be available to us for hanging up our coats and a place to place lunchboxes and access to refrigerators while we are working. Representatives Holly Jones and Chad Perkins have also offered up their offices if more space is needed.

I am sometimes asked about parking. There is a large parking lot downhill from St. Peter’s Church that I usually use and it’s free. There are many free parking lots. The ones closest parking to the actual capitol building are paid parking. Please refer to this link for more information on parking around the capitol.

The official start time is 9:00 AM and the official end time is 5:00 PM. Some people are there all day, others come in for a few hours. Any time you can give is helpful and appreciated. I will bring the flyers we will be handing out to legislators. If you have goldbacks, bring one to show legislators as we talk with them. Depending on the amount of people that can come, we may divide into smaller groups. For instance, if 100 people show up, we will most likely divide into 3-4 groups, we are there to talk with legislators, not traumatize them. J If you arrive after we have started, just check in with one of the home bases, and they will contact us to let us know you are there and someone will come and get you so you can join the group.

If you have never joined us for Knock and Shock before or have never talked to Senators and Representatives before and have anxiety about it, don’t worry, you can still be helpful just by being there. It’s a great opportunity to watch and learn and get the feel for how the Missouri Freedom Initiative engages in citizen activism and legislation promotion/support.

For those who can’t go to the capitol, PLEASE consider calling and emailing Representatives while we are working. I would love to hear from Representatives and their staff that they have been receiving calls about HB1955 while we are actively supporting it in the capitol. We are asking for Representatives to co-sponsor HB1955 – (The Constitutional Money Act). The more co-sponsors we get, the more notice it gets and the higher priority it becomes for leadership. SAPA had 87 co-sponsors. Let’s see if we can match that. Senators cannot co-sponsor HB1955 BUT we can put it on their radar early.

If anyone needs to communicate with me directly, my cell phone number is 417-827-3146. The flyer is up on the landing page of our web site https://mofree.org

Jan. 6th

Happy Saturday gang. We’ll be live tonight on Twitter, Rumble, Odysee, You Tube and Facebook. Please join us if you can at 7:30 PM Central.

I wanted to start out by announcing some sad news. Brenda Webb (Senator Eigel’s Legislative Assistant) Passed away unexpectedly yesterday morning. I’d like to ask for prayers for her family. As of this time there have been no announcements as of yet for funeral service arrangements. Senator Eigel posted on Twitter the announcement and paid tribute to Brenda for her uplifting and positive personality and her tireless work for liberty in the state of Missouri. Although I knew Brenda for only 1 year, I already miss her. She is well known in Missouri for bringing folks into the liberty movement. Her legacy as a child of God, a liberty warrior and a good friend to so many people is forever cemented into the hearts and memories of those who knew her. Our sadness when we lose a friend or a loved one who is saved is temporary. Brenda is now with the Creator of the universe and the Savior. She now knows the greatest joy there is. Those of us lucky enough to have known her can honor her legacy by being good examples as Christians and freedom fighters.

It would come as no surprise to people who knew Brenda, she was extremely supportive of the silver and gold bill. When I talked to her Wednesday, she was excited about our Knock and Shock silver and gold mission for January 9, which weather folks have promised will be bad weather. If fact, we’ve heard that if the promised snow comes on Tuesday, legislators and their support staff will stay home. For that reason, if the 9th brings the sufficient snow for the capitol to shut down, we’ll reschedule for the 10th. I know that really stinks because the 9th was picked back in early November and folks had time to ask for time off work and plan around it. We’ll still plan for the 9th. The weather folks have been wrong before. I will email everyone on Monday night after I have talked to folks at the capitol to see what leadership is saying about Tuesday attendance. It just makes no sense to do a knock and shock operation if folks don’t show up for work at the capitol.

John Williams welcomed Tom Martz for his live stream last night (1-5-24). There were a few issues with you tube so the first 10 minutes is gone. You can see the rest of the stream here. Tom Martz is nearly finished with his scoring of legislators in Missouri for the yearly granite awards for the Locke and Smith Foundation. My wife and I visited Tom (as well as Darin Chappell) at Scramblers restaurant on Friday morning for the KSGF broadcast.

Tomorrow night (1-7-24) at 6:00 PM I join Sam and Trish Britton on “Off the Cuff” on Missouri Liberty Radio. As always, it’s a call in show so feel free to call in and talk to Sam and Trish and I. We’ll be discussing Knock and Shock, silver and gold legislation and much, much more.

That’s all for now gang. I will again email on Monday night to let folks know whether or not leadership is calling off the workday at the capitol on Tuesday, so keep your eyes peeled for that email please.

I hope to see many of you tonight.

May God bless us all with good health and with wisdom and courage.
