Missouri Freedom Initiative

March 30 News Letter

Happy Saturday gang! We will be live tonight at 7:30 PM Central time on the usual platforms, Rumble, Twitter (X), Odysee and You Tube. There is a lot going on legislatively and otherwise so I will try to keep this e-mail short and to the point.

First, a bit about SB727. It is rare to see a bill flying through the general assembly when nearly the entirety of the conservative grassroots are actively against it. Well, SB727 (Education bill) exemplifies that concept. This happens when politicians have a “firm conviction” on the bill OR when they have received campaign donations to support the bill. Pressure is mounting from SB727 supporters and financial backers on representatives up in Jefferson City to vote “yes” on SB727. American Federation for Children, Quality Schools, Rex Finkquefield, The Herzog Group, Americans for Prosperity and others are giving campaign contributions for “yes” votes.

Senator Koenig’s SB727 has been a source of contention for most of the conservative grassroots around the state because it targets homeschoolers. Some suggest SB727 would actually be a good move for Missouri IF it was passed AND DESE (the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education) was defunded. That’s a BIG “IF.” If SB727 passes into law AND DESE is not defunded is the nightmare scenario. There is no provision in this bill to shrink or otherwise defund DESE in this bill. In fact, this bill empowers DESE even more – this is the elephant in the room. In fact, the elephant in the room also has a lactose intolerance condition and has been eating nothing but government cheese for months. Even the Missouri public schools are against this bill! This bill has had the benefit of greased skids and is moving VERY quickly, so the people of Missouri must move quickly to change or kill it.

Homeschoolers need to be aware that there will be a meeting of home school dads in Jefferson City with elected representatives that WANT to hear the homeschoolers’ point of view in regards to SB727. No e-mail or phone calls for this event, just face to face conversation with representatives that do want to understand ALL points of view with this legislation and its effects. You can sign up to be there at this grassroots website. AND we’ll talk more about this tonight. This event is a very good idea. Wednesday at 9:00AM in the rotunda. I STRONGLY recommend that this meeting be well attended by home school dads. This is VERY important. This is truly an all hands on deck moment. Remember, showing up at the capitol is a superpower.

Retha and Gretchen will be on tonight. This is the last time to hear from them before Tuesday (elections). They will be updating everyone on any new information they have found, what to do if you do not know about your school bond issue, how to vet your school board hopefuls and more. It’ll be a good opportunity to ask questions to these two ladies that have worked tirelessly to inform the public on school bond issues before Tuesday’s vote. Gretchen’s blog is PACKED with good information and is updated frequently.

I did dabble into You-Tube shorts (1 minute long videos) for the first time and put out three videos. I intended to do more but the lack of time caught up with me again. The first video is about the use of the term “no tax increase bond issue.” The second video is about Stifel Financial (Owensville’s school financier) and their partnership with the WEF. The third video about more deceptive language on the ballot for school bonds. PLEASE feel free to share these videos with EVERYONE you know, in or out of Missouri as these videos apply to everyone nationwide.

Silver and gold bills are moving! Most of this data will be shared tonight on the stream but the newest call to action is to e-mail AND call your Senators to support SB735 (The Constitutional Money Act). That’s right, SB735 will be heard on the Senate floor as early as Tuesday or Wednesday this coming up week. To top that off, HB1955 will have an executive session on Tuesday in the Financial Institutions committee. Daniel Diaz with Citizens for Sound Money and the film crew will be back for this and we will be filming in Jefferson City on Tuesday and possibly Wednesday. To top that off, SB735 was amended onto Senator Crawford’s SB835, so another avenue has been built for possible passage of this legislation. Parts of SB735 have been amended to other bills as well.

I’d like to give a shout-out to Rhyno Coetsee (newly appointed CEO) and Daniel Diaz (Executive Director) of Citizens for Sound Money for helping in Missouri’s effort to help us pass the Constitutional Money Act. Their help has been invaluable and has continued unabated even as Jim Forsythe (CEO) passed away a few weeks ago. We were fortunate enough to meet Jim when he and Daniel came to Missouri to help with the House hearing on HB1955 on February 27th. They traveled here at their own expense and provided the goldbacks at their expense to distribute to legislators on March 11. Jim Forsyth passed away just a few weeks after he traveled to Missouri to help us with HB1955.

I’ve been on many radio shows and you-tube broadcasts in the past three weeks, so many in fact I can’t remember them all and I did not link them in previous e-mails. However, in the past week I’ve been on Jodi Grace’s podcast talking about Missouri’s effort to get silver and gold legislation across the finish line, I’ve been on 2 videos with Alex Horat (Free American Press). The first was about our silver/gold legislation and the second was about school bonds (Retha joined in as well). The second video has not yet been released.

John Williams invited Libertarian Presidential candidate Mike ter Maat to his live stream last night (Friday, 3-29-24). You can see this on You Tube or on Rumble.

From Sam Britton and Missouri Liberty Radio: “Hello everyone, there will be no live OTC broadcast this week, due to everybody spending time with their families due to the Easter holiday. But for those of you that want to hear it, we are going to replay the first broadcast with both John Williams, and Scott Griffith in studio.”

For those who may not know, Sam’s signature program “Off the Cuff” AKA OTC is always available on Sam’s website in the archives. You can peruse this page and find shows you missed or shows you’d like to hear again.

That’s all for now gang. I hope to see many of you tonight on the live stream.

Congratulations to Idaho! Idaho’s SB1314 has passed both houses and is awaiting the Governor’s signature. SB1314 is a gold and silver depository of sorts. An impressive first step to protecting the people’s money!

May God bless us all with good health and with wisdom and courage.

March 9th News Letter

Happy Saturday gang, as what seems to be a trend, I will be keeping this email short for lack of time. We will be having our live stream tonight at 7:30 PM Central. You can view on any of 4 different platforms. Rumble, Twitter (X), Odysee and You Tube.

We will be discussing a variety of topics tonight. Retha will be giving us an update on her work regarding exposing deceptive practices in the public schools to try to get bonds passed on April 2nd. We’ll discuss the current state of the silver and gold bills currently in the legislature, knock and shock and the rally on Monday.

I also need to give you advance notice that we will NOT have a live stream next week (3-16-24). I will be speaking about Missouri’s gold and silver legislative efforts next Saturday to a national audience in New Hampshire as a guest of the Citizens for Sound Money. There is a rumor that A&E might be making a documentary about the Sound Money movement across America with a special focus on Missouri and Missouri’s efforts to get legislation through the general assembly. There is even talk about the documentary crew possibly attending the rally and Knock and Shock on Monday. I cannot get this confirmed at this time – so no promises. More on that later.

A CALL TO ACTION

This is a different kind of rally on Monday. The primary focus is on the grassroots organizations and their work and how we are MUCH stronger when we work together. We will also hear from Representative Hardwick and possibly Senator Eigel. After the rally is over, the Missouri Freedom Initiative will be asking for help to distribute a Goldback to every legislator. I will provide a flyer with talking points. It’s time to engage the ENTIRE general assembly on CMA (the Constitutional Money Act). It’s time to do what grassroots do best, we show up. Nothing stands out more to a politicians than those who show up at the capitol and engage in conversation with them about legislation. That’s EXACTLY what we intend to do. You can let Jodi Grace know in advance if you plan to attend the rally on her website.

For lack of time, I have to end the email here. Hope to see you all tonight!

May God bless us all with good health and with wisdom and courage.

Yours for liberty,

Patrick Holland

Special Call to Action Notice

Hey gang! It’s a Tuesday e-mail, so we know what that means, don’t we? A call to action. Let the campaign for grassroots support of the Constitutional Money Act begin!

Here’s HB1955’s actions to date.

HB1955 has MORE co-sponsors than ANY other bill currently in the House (31 to be exact) largely due to all of you! Thank you!

The bill is currently bottle-necked in the Financial Institutions committee. This legislative practice is most commonly referred to as “slow walking.” We still have plenty of time to get it done but we MUST keep it moving, and everyone’s help would be most appreciated. Here’s the plan….

Step 1: Let’s call/email Financial Institution committee members ASAP and show our support for this bill. Remember, when serving on a committee, these representatives represent the ENTIRE STATE in their committee assignment roles, not just their district constituents. You can even ask for them to co-sponsor the bill if they haven’t already. Please feel free to contact them all. This MUST be a positive campaign. Honey works much better than vinegar. Be sure to tell them WHY you like the bill and how it helps Missourians. Contact information for the committee members as follows. Those who have already co-sponsored HB1955 are noted. The idea here is to get these committee members to report to their chairman that they are receiving a lot of communication from Constituents about this bill and are urging its passage through the committee. Please do not forget to ask for a co-sponsorship for those who have not co-sponsored yet.

Best practices: Smile when you talk with them or leave a message. Most folks can hear a “smile” on the phone. Keep messages somewhat short and to the point via phone or e-mail. Stay positive in your communications and expectations and be sure to give a reason or two as to WHY you would like to see this bill passed into law. Example: “This is the best idea I have seen legislatively that actually deals with inflation and the impending threat of a Central Bank Digital Currency.” Or “This is a great way to show the people of Missouri that you are defending and protecting the Constitution! Article 1 Section 10 of the US Constitution says gold and silver are money.” Feel free to ask them how they intend to vote if you speak with them.

Step 2: Wednesday, March 6th, 10:00AM Central Time Did anyone notice that I didn’t list the chairman of the committee in the above contact info? There is a reason for that. We like to save the best for last. Tomorrow morning (3-6-24) at 10:00AM Central I will be joining Ron’s basement (You Tube channel) for a live stream. During this live stream, we are going to fill up Chairman Michael O’Donnell’s voice mail. Folks will be asked during the stream to make a call to his office to support an executive session to vote HB1955 out of his committee. Let’s make sure Chairman O’Donnell knows how much Missouri loves this bill and why. I encourage everyone to join in. O’Donnell’s voice mail can only hold 75 messages. Let’s fill it up. When we’ve filled it up, we’ll move on to the vice chair’s phone number. We’ll encourage e-mails to Chairman O’Donnell at the same time as well.

E-Mail: Michael.ODonnell@house.mo.gov

My thanks in advance for helping get this bill moving again. Of special note, several Republican Central Committees statewide have voted to include Sound Money in the 2024 Republican Platform (thanks to Bev Ehlen.) J

Please don’t forget Monday, March 11 for Knock and Shock starting at 9:00AM in the capitol. Watch for the Saturday e-mail for more info. On the same day, the Freedom Rally is at 1:30PM in the rotunda. There may be a surprise or two. Calling all grassroots to attend this rally!

Please email me if you have any questions. I’ll get back with you ASAP. Let’s finish what we started and get Representative Hardwick’s Constitutional Money Act (HB1955) across the finish line.

I hope to see you guys tomorrow morning on the Ron’s Basement live stream.

May God bless us all with good health and with wisdom and courage.

March 3 News Letter

Happy Saturday gang. We’ll be live tonight on all 4 platforms as usual, Rumble, Twitter (X), Odysee and You Tube. We have a lot to talk about tonight and this past week has been the busiest I have been this legislative season. We’ll discuss the public schools and the bonds and school board members on the April 2 ballot, the grassroots in Missouri, silver and gold (HB1955/SB735), the state wide caucus today (3-2-24) and more! If you’d like to join the conversation directly, you can join us on Guilded as well.

The conservative grassroots network in Missouri is the most impressive infrastructure for liberty this nation has seen in a long, long time. The cohesion of this liberty network can be fragile at times and stronger than titanium at times. The focus should ALWAYS be what brings us together. The psychology of division is always waiting in the darkness, waiting for an opportunity, always ready to separate us. Division between people is not a new concept, it’s as old as time itself. Division was not conceived in the light, it was always shrouded in darkness because it is the #1 tool for the accumulation of power. Government is the beneficiary of division, so are large corporations. Division works in so many ways, sometimes it works in ways that are not even perceived by the conscious mind.

Our founding fathers knew of this and drafted documents that were designed to keep the fragile, new born nation unified. The Declaration of Independence, the Constitution and the Bill of Rights were designed to keep these United States unified under the principles of natural rights. Even John F. Kennedy acknowledged these rights and the commonalities between us all in a famous speech when he was attempting to end the cold war with Russia. JFK was attempting to unify humanity under these easily understood concepts but also knew that the undying rhetoric of the cold war with Russia was growing the US government and the unholy union with the military industrial complex. Ronald Reagan spoke of this in a different way, his famous speech at the UN about how quickly the world would be united if facing a threat from outer space.

The single largest government tool to organize/unify a society is war. I think most of us actually understand this but to what degree? Transient concepts of war are with us every day. These are the faint whispers of division that are constantly with us from governments and their agents (such as the media). Resisting these abstract concepts is an exercise in a person’s grounded principles. I have personally seen folks that I know and consider conservative friends who are supportive of growing government if they somehow personally benefit from that growth forgetting that a slice of EVERYONE’S freedom must be sacrificed for that growth. How grounded are we in the principles of restricted, restrained government?

Who are we to be? What interests for liberty are served with ANY expansion of government? What is the cost to our progeny if we grow government in ANY way? How difficult is it to roll back government growth and ANY tax increases? The Missouri Freedom Initiative found out the hard way how difficult it is to remove sales tax on food in Missouri. We put in ENORMOUS effort for 2 years just to remove that simple yet extremely unethical tax that would benefit EVERY SINGLE person in Missouri. The forces raging against this effort were obvious despite the popularity of legislation designed to remove that tax. Because of this two year effort, we learned a VERY IMPORTANT lesson. Any tax increases that are proposed for ANY reason should be resisted because it will be virtually impossible to remove them after they are implemented and that my friends, is how government grows. The government has an easy path to increase itself while reducing the people’s rights and freedoms. All we have to do, is do nothing. Government will grow itself quite easily and quickly in the current political environment of division among the people. To stop government growth, the people will have to be RESPONSIBLE for their freedom. That takes effort and effort (time, energy, resources). If the people are not willing to get off the couch and get involved, government growth can continue unabated and the people’s rights will become more restricted and eventually evaporate. The generations that follow will never know what freedoms existed before they were born… is this the legacy we want to leave behind?

I for one want to celebrate the diversity of the skill sets, abilities, interests and efforts of the grass roots in Missouri. At this point in time in Missouri, we are the guardians of liberty, the warriors who pledge our time, talent and treasure to God and the freedom He gave us. Protecting our liberties is our mandate, our calling and our passion. The coalition of the diverse conservative grass roots is the BEST hope for Missouri that we have seen and it is our time to make sure the coalition is strengthened by our commonalities. The newly formed Freedom Caucus is a part of this coalition. We have advocacy through them and their efforts. Fine tuning our goals and resolve will always be a part of this endeavor, our ships must sail in the same direction. Our collective progeny will pay the price for our lack of action. We cannot take freedom for granted anymore, the wolf is at the door.

Important Dates:

Saturday, March 9th 2024: Back to Education Forum in Springfield has been cancelled and will be re-scheduled. Stay tuned for details.

Monday, March 11th, 2024: Rally Day/Knock and Shock/Silver and Gold Day (Knock and Shock will begin at 9:00AM. We will break for the rally at 1:00 and resume after the rally is over). This is an all-day event for knock and shock. We encourage any and all to join the Missouri Freedom Initiative as we continue to support Senator Eigel’s and Representative Hardwick’s gold and silver legal tender legislation (SB735 and HB1955 respectively).

John Williams with the Missouri Liberty Report produced another live stream last night. He announced a new direction he is taking with his show. He also explained why. You can see John’s video on Rumble and You Tube.

Sam and Trish Britton will be live tomorrow night at 6:00PM Central. Sam will be playing audio recordings from Alex Newman and Del Bigtree and update everyone on smart meters. You can listen live from his web stream.

Hope to see you all tonight!

May God bless us all with good health and with wisdom and courage.
